Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Cook Lasagna Noodles: In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add a pinch of salt. Cook the lasagna noodles for about 8 minutes, or until tender but still firm. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare Cheese Sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the softened cream cheese and whisk until it begins to melt, about 5 minutes. Stir in the salt, pepper, and hot milk, whisking until creamy. Add 1½ cups of Swiss cheese and continue whisking until the cheese has melted and the sauce has thickened, about 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Layer the Lasagna:
- Pour ¾ cup of cheese sauce into the bottom of a 9×9 inch baking dish.
- Layer ⅓ of the lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Top with half of the cooked chicken and half of the diced ham.
- Spoon 1 cup of cheese sauce over the ham and chicken.
- Repeat the layering process: half of the remaining noodles, half of the remaining chicken, half of the remaining ham, and 1 cup of cheese sauce.
- Finish with the remaining lasagna noodles and the remaining cheese sauce.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle the top with ½ cup of shredded Swiss cheese, breadcrumbs, and Italian spice. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the lasagna to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
